SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This position, under minimal supervision, is responsible for independently performing complex laboratory tests on blood, body fluids, cells, and tissues that includes standardized microscopic, chemical, and/or bacteriological testing. All testing is performed in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures, FDA, CAP, OSHA, CLIA, and Joint Commission regulations and guidelines. Test results are used in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The MLS lead assists the Laboratory Manager with the supervision of the clinical lab sections, oversight of technical staff, scheduling, ordering, and all other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in medical laboratory science, or related science
MT (ASCP) - Medical Technologist or MLS (ASCP) - Medical Laboratory Scientist, American Society of Clinical Pathology, Health and Human Services Certification.
CM required if certified after 2004.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the specific discipline(s).
