JOB SUMMARY:

 

MA will be required to work onsite, this is not a remote position

 

The purpose of the Medical Assistant / MA position is to champion the TeleRetinal Screening Program with onsite clinic support, direct patient contact and proficient operation/troubleshooting of the DRS+ imaging system. The Medical Assistant / MA will perform any additional clinic/patient duties identified and assigned by Quality, to meet their various initiatives.  The skill sets and attributes of the Medical Assistant /  MA may also be utilized to support future expansion within our Client Support Services Group. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Successful completion of Retinal Competency Training for proper Patient positioning and alignment to secure the best quality images, required for evaluation.  Knowledge base and ability to troubleshoot minor technical issues.    

 

Direct patient interaction, within the Clinic setting, to abide by designated Workflow procedures and policies for efficient completion of Retinal Screening Process.

 

Communicate to Provider/Care Team regarding outreach and imaging.

 

Propose orders for signature.

 

Schedule Patients into Appointment Template through Cerner.

 

Patient outreach regarding gap in-care (Retinal Screening).

 

Proactively pull Patient lists for follow-up contact and scheduling.

 

Follow-up on Patient ‘no show’ appointments for rescheduling.

 

Partner with Quality Team to address other gaps in Patient care by providing proactive outreach (Pediatric & Senior Well Visit); ensure DM Patients have completed Lab work per protocol; address preventive screening gaps in care.

 

Assist Client Support Services with various Patient-focused endeavors. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

High School diploma or equivalent required.

 

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program. Medical Assistants must become certified within 90 days of hire OR a Credentialed MA (Certified/Registered).

 

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must obtain within 6 months of employment date.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

 

Excellent oral communication skills required.

 

Computer skills required.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Associates Degree preferred.

 

Prior outpatient experience preferred.
