The Medical Assistant will be responsible for providing assistance with various health care services, for obtaining specimens for conducting routine lab studies of specimens, and for assisting with administrative functions such as coordinating patient flow and scheduling appointments and phone messages. The Medical Assistant will serve as a trained preceptor for new medical assistant orientation and for instruction of medical assistant students. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for one project or initiative annually in the one of the following areas: Service Excellence, Quality, Staff Development, Information Technology, or Medical Group functions.
During this unprecedented time, the Contingency Pool Medical Assistants are expected to staff the Covid testing sites. The expected responsibilities include nasopharyngeal swabbing, printing lab labels and requisitions, de-escalation and communicating with multi-disciplinary teams.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting Program required.
2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient practice or clinical specialty required.
Active status for Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required.
BLS certification require.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Excellent oral communication skills required.
Computer skills required.
Associates Degree preferred.
