SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Medical Assistant will function as a member of the health care team. The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for providing routine administrative as well as clinical tasks under the supervision of a provider within their scope as outlined by policies and procedures to meet patient and provider needs.

At Camp Hill Family Medicine, the MA will perform clinical tasks such as: completing intake for each patient appointment, updating medical records, obtaining vital signs, assist during medical procedures, produce and distribute correspondence, letter and faxes, performing point of care testing for the patient, administering injections, preparing and cleaning treatment rooms, answering phone, assisting in prescription refills for patients, and answering patient portal messages. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

High School diploma or equivalent required

Must meet current eligibility to sit for the exam with attainment of certification or registration through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistants within 90-days of employment date; OR

Current active status as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistant certification required

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must obtain BLS Certification within 6 months of employment date

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program 

Previous outpatient experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Excellent communication skills

Compassionate direct patient contact/engagement/outreach

Reliable transportation to travel among designated clinic locations

Flexibility to collaboratively work with various departments and perform varied tasks
