SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Market Manager is a newly established, grant-funded position that will support planning, oversight, management, and strategic direction in operating and expanding the Downtown Campus weekly farm stand into a designated ‘healthy food market’ site. This Healthy Food Market will provide increased access to nutritious, affordable foods to inner-city residents, including PSHSJ patients, who otherwise have a variety of obstacles in obtaining healthy food for their families. From a lack of transportation to insufficient funds, to a lack of healthy retail locations in walking distance, many families struggle to put food on the table, much less healthy food. This Food Market will provide a “hand-up” rather than a “hand-out” by prioritizing affordable pricing strategies. The Market will also provide enhanced informational resources and educational programming for current and potential customers. This position is a one-year, part-time position with a high probability of being re-funded, based on success of the first year. Weekly schedule and actual hours per week expected to vary according to project flow.
Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience (4 years)
