Penn State Health is seeking an adept critical care nurse leader to be responsible for the leadership and management of all aspects of the Life Lion Critical Care Transport Services and Aviation staff. This role will ensure compliance, competence, and expert delivery of all aspects of the services. This includes developing and monitoring operational and capital budgets of the Life Lion Critical Care Transport services including possible service growth opportunities, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies including, but not limited to, the PA Department of Health, Federal Aviation Authority.
The Manager Life Lion Critical Care Transport will provide leadership and management of all clinical and aviation personnel and will be responsible for all human resources and administrative policies consistent with the departments of Emergency Medicine and Nursing.
This individual will lead and participate in strategic planning activities, oversee implementation, and will collaborate with Medical Director on the oversight of quality assurance activities.
As the face of the program in our communities and abroad, the Manager of Life Lion Critical Care Transport will participate in marketing initiatives throughout South Central Pennsylvania in cooperation with the Strategic Services department. This will include promoting the program through established networks with local emergency and governmental medical organization as well as representing the program at local, regional, national, and international levels.
Life Lion Critical Care Transport delivers specialized care and treatment in pre-hospital and inter-facility emergency and critical care transportation. Specialty services include air helicopter transport, pediatric critical care ground transport, therapeutic hypothermia (provided for post-cardiac arrest patients), and landing zone safety training classes.
Bachelor’s Degree in nursing required.
5 years of experience in critical care nursing, including both air and ground transport required.
3 years management experience required.
Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Pennsylvania required.
BLS and ACLS required.
One or more of the following credentials is required: PHRN, CFRN, CCRN or CEN, PALS, NRP
Business training preferred.
Master’s degree preferred.
