LPN/Licensed Practical Nurse II – 7 East - Neuro/Trauma/Stroke - Penn State Health Holy Spirit

7 East is a fast paced 25 bed, progressive care telemetry/stroke/trauma unit, serving the adult population with multiple comorbidities along with acute cardiac, neurologic, neurosurgical and trauma related diagnosis. We are the only non-ICU unit in the hospital with the capability of caring for patients with stroke like signs/symptoms. Staff are trained to care for patients with complex IV drips requiring constant telemetry monitoring, assessing stroke patients using the NIH stroke scale, and caring for multiple system trauma patients.
The Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN II will provide direct and individualized nursing care to an assigned group of patients under the direction of a registered nurse of provider. The LPN II will observe, report and record medical information and nursing care provided in the electronic medical record. The LPN II will instruct patients and families according to the teaching plans. The LPN II will communicate with the healthcare team to facilitate the coordination of individualized patient care.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
LPN License to practice in the state of employment or eligible for licensure in state of employment required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required prior to completion of orientation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
One (1) year experience in an acute or ambulatory care setting preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Able to stand & sit constantly; walk frequently.
Able to lift/carry 0-10 lbs. frequently; 11-50 lbs. occasionally.
Able to push/pull 0-20 lbs. frequently; 21-75 lbs. occasionally.
Able to climb occasionally; reach constantly.
Able to use hands for simple/firm grasping.
