Working as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Penn State Health, you are the heart and backbone of patient care. This job is responsible, under the direction of a Healthcare Provider or mid-level provider, for providing quality practical nursing care to clinic patients consistent with the scope of LPN licensure. Assists providers with patient clinic visits, carrying out routine aspects of designated nursing protocols and provides clinical support and related assistance to professional medical staff. Work also includes participating in patient care planning, assisting with and/or performing procedures/tests, reporting nursing observations/assessments and updating information in the patient’s electronic medical record.
An employee uses initiative in carrying out recurring tasks independently within scope of practice and established standards of care. Work involves effectively managing a demanding workload and requires excellent customer service skills with patients/families, multi-disciplinary team members, practitioners and the public.
High School diploma required. Graduate of an approved school of nursing with current license to practice in the state - of PA or eligible for licensure in PA required. BLS required.
One (1) year experience in an acute or ambulatory care setting preferred.
Able to stand & sit constantly; walk frequently.
Able to lift/carry 0-10 lbs. frequently; 11-50 lbs. occasionally.
Able to push/pull 0-20 lbs. frequently; 21-75 lbs. occasionally.
Able to climb occasionally; reach constantly.
Able to use hands for simple/firm grasping.
