Penn State Health Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is excited to welcome a part-time outpatient lactation consultant. This part-time position will allow for flexible hours while enhancing prenatal and postpartum lactation care for obstetric and maternal fetal medicine patients. Outpatient visits will occur at the Hope Drive location which cares for more than 1162 new and 11,112 return obstetric patients each year. Applicants will interact with a diverse patient population group and encounter a full range of breast feeding needs. This position will allow for universal prenatal lactation education for patients and families, the opportunity to identify women at risk for lactation challenges and allow for the creation of a personalized lactation plan. There will also be opportunities to participate in education for providers and patients, research and quality improvement initiatives


Responsible for providing lactation management services to expectant and new parents that encompass mother/infant assessment for breastfeeding, perinatal and postpartum education, consultations and continuing support for breastfeeding families.


 Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Master's Degree in Nursing required.

 3 years maternal child nursing experience required.

 Certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) required.

 Currently licensure to practice registered nurse by Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners required.


 Computer, written, oral, and strong critical thinking skills required.


 Master's degree in a job related field preferred.
