SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position will provide interpreter services for patients, families, staff, visitors, physicians, and others regarding consents, medical treatments, discharges, instructions, and other concerns as needed. Also responsible for the process of identifying, prioritizing, and completing translation of documents from English/Spanish, Spanish/English. May also facilitate the translation of documents in other languages as well. Other duties include assisting the supervisor in problem-solving with patient and family communication needs and proactively identifying opportunities for improving services to our limited or non-English speaking patient and family population. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

Knowledge of Medical Terminology required.

Must be able to clearly communicate instructions, questions, and answers in both English and target language based on the patient, family member, or employees preferred language


PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

Associate or Bachelor Degree in a Social Science field or Language highly preferred.

Prior experience in medical interpretation and translation highly preferred.

Successful completion of a nationally recognized certification process and American Translators Association (ATA) certification highly preferred (but not required) at the time of hire.
