Responsible for all electronic medical record tasks in a cutting edge Health Information Services department including Release of Information, Disability Forms, reconciliation of dictation/transcription and deficiency management under the direction of the HIS Supervisor and Manager for all electronic medical record tasks. As a Senior HIM Associate, you will be responsible for:
Responsible for all electronic tasks and functions in the HIS department, including maintaining the Discharge Not Final Billed spreadsheet; tracking, reporting and updating medical record deficiencies; tracking and reporting inpatient records needing coded; utilizing the dictation system for reports and quality checks and for processing voice files to and from vendor; mastering PowerChart applications such as MRP, PowerVision, inboxes, Deficiency Management, and Release of Information.
Responsible for the Release of Information processes including working with the outsourced vendor, disability determination and Subpoena Certification.
Works closely with Care Coordinator/Social Worker on documents needed to place our patients in extended care facilities. Rotates between the HIS front counter and inpatient units and on variously assigned shifts.
Answers the telephone and/or pager, troubleshoots the call to customers satisfaction by either handling it themselves or forwarding to the appropriate person; triages emergency calls to leadership staff or providers according to established policy.
Processes email, voicemail, and phone queries. Interacts with all levels in the organization to answer questions and complete tasks, exhibiting World Class Service
Utilizes working knowledge of Eclipsys or equivalent, PowerChart, Dictation system, Coding software and Microsoft Office to manage tasks and perform reconciliation.
High School diploma or equivalent with 2 - 3 years related experience in a healthcare setting required.
Excellent English reading comprehension, math, organization, and communication skills required.
The ability to work effectively as part of a team is required.
Medical records experience preferred.
