Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is seeking a Healthcare Data Analyst to help us achieve our goals to provide the best quality outcomes for our patients.
Our Healthcare data analyst will be responsible to perform high level analyses in support of institution-wide clinical quality improvement activities. Job duties include the analysis of healthcare data and information originating from various sources including but not limited to:
Data generated from various clinical, survey, registry, and financial database
Clinical information regarding patient care
External sources, particularly clinical and quality performance and bench marking metrics
An integral role to ensure that the organization exceeds its goals, the healthcare data analyst will work collaboratively with Decision Support & Quality Services to determine resources needed to improve identified gaps in care and to develop recommendations for quality improvement based on findings.
The individual selected for this role will be engaging with a strong ability to present complex information to stakeholders in a compelling and accessible manner. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Health Informatics, Health Policy Administration, or a related field required.
3 years data analysis experience in either finance, clinical, or research required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Ability to generate and extract data from source systems required.
Ability to understand and work with complex data sets required.
Ability to apply quality improvement tools including standard process control (SPC) charts, advanced and compelling data visualization, as well as narrative analyses.
Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously required.
Excellent communication and analytical skills required.
Proficiency in multiple software applications at a minimum
in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint required.
Understanding of clinical processes required.
Understanding of quality improvement concepts (Lean, PDCA, etc.) required.
Experience with statistics preferred.
Experience with Vizient, Cerner, or Midas Datavision preferred
Knowledge of and experience with Clinical Quality Process Improvement concepts preferred.
Project management skills preferred
