SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This role offers an exceptional experience for new RN graduates to continue to learn and grow in their nursing career while assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care to a variety of patients. Graduate nurse residents are expected to commit to full-time employment for at least a year, as well as actively participate in all learning opportunities that are offered. Please note that monthly start dates are available.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

Graduate nurse with a Temporary Practice Permit or Registered Nurse with license to practice professional nursing in the state of Pennsylvania by start date. 

BLS required prior to orientation completion.


UNIT DESCRIPTION:

The intermediate care unit (IMCU) is a 24-private-bed unit that operates as a step down from the intensive care unit, as well as the primary admission unit for patients requiring IMCU level of care. IMCU level patients may require medical or surgical services. Patients admitted to the IMCU can have a wide array of abnormalities including both medical and surgical services. The IMC team provides care to adult and geriatric patients admitted for medical or surgical needs. These patients include, but are not limited to, EGS/Acute Care, General Surgery, Neurology, Gynecology-Oncology, Orthopedic, Cardiology, and Medicine patients. The IMCU uses a multidisciplinary team approach, with rounds occurring on the unit daily, promoting collaboration and communication among the care team. This multidisciplinary team includes providers, nursing, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, case management, and other support services or specialized consultants as needed.

Penn State Health Hampden Medical Center brings acute inpatient medical services to communities in Cumberland, Perry, and York counties. The facility, features 108 private inpatient beds and an attached outpatient medical office building.
