JOB SUMMARY:


Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center’s 54 week ACPE accredited Clinical Pastoral Education Residency Program is now accepting applications for the 2021-2022 year beginning in August 2021. 

Our program begun in 1980, offers a unique approach of Healthcare Administration, Research Literacy, Interdisciplinary Humanities, and Patient Navigation in the CPE curriculum.  Our CPE residents have access to interdisciplinary training in collaboration with physicians, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, as well as law and social work students.

Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is a Level 1 Trauma and academic center aligned with Penn State College of Medicine.  Penn State’s Humanities program is first in the nation and as a CPE resident, you have access to SIM-Lab training sessions and an opportunity to be a part of educational events in collaboration with the College of Medicine and the Diversity Equity and Inclusion Office.

Our Clinical Pastoral Education Residents provide Pastoral Care, assistance and support. They also actively participate in Clinical Pastoral Education training program, abiding by CPE policies and completing course requirements as assigned. 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is required.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree of Divinity (or equivalent) or Ordination is preferred.

Submit a completed application along with a $10 deposit, payable to Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

Applicants must also submit a copy of the CPE supervisor’s evaluation of their intern CPE unit, a copy of the student’s self-evaluation of their intern CPE unit, and a written paragraph stating the student’s rationale, intent and goals in pursuing a CPE residency.

Applications are accepted throughout the year, with interviews beginning in January. Admission interviews will be conducted by a CPE Supervisor or other qualified person. Applicants are expected to be involved in religious ministry or in seminary. Acceptance decisions will be made after completion of the admission process.
